Flormar - WL08

This gorgeous green was a gift to me from the wonderful Aylin at Posh Nail Art. She was my Secret Santa in the Christmas swap in our equally wonderful Facebook gift exchange group, Lacquered with Love, and she completely spoiled me.

This is part of Flormar's Wet Look series with super shiny crellies. I did use Poshé on this for drying purposes, but it was equally shiny without it! The brush in these bottles is flat and nice to work with. The formula was stellar - I was good in two easy coats, but added a third one because... well, because I'm neurotic about vnl?

Picture Polish - Pshiiit

This was my second try with Picture Polish, and this one had a happy ending. I've been eyeing Phiiit on and off for months and was unsure I would like it. I did! My worries that it might be too sheer for my liking came to shame and I had complete coverage in two coats! It was quite dark the way I like it, and didn't have too many flakes, just the tight enough to make it interesting. Also, the color itself was interesting as it danced from blue to green depending on light and angle. Very nice!

Since I've been too lazy to blog but not too lazy to do my nails, I have a bunch of polishes to show. These are random ones that I've worn over the last month or so.

Below, you see my first a England polish - Saint George! This was a vampish so-so experience until the sun hit it, and I stopped to stare. It wasn't a spectacular holo by any means but the holo color shifts were so beautiful that I can understand the wow factor surrounding this brand. Right now, I'm waiting for Sleeping Palace from the latest a England collection:)

Zoya's Charla was a lemming for a while before I got it (Zoya's are hard to get in Sweden at a reasonable price) and it did not disappoint! This is three coats, I think.

This was a Kiko I had standing around in my cupboard for quite a while before I used it. I did like the soft cocoa shimmery look of it, but thought it might look too tame on the nail. To the contrary. This is chocolate shimmery loveliness incarnate, and may be one of my favourite polishes. Two easy coats with Kiko's perfect brush! Nr 373.

Zoya's Ibiza. A high quality dark blue shimmer. A joy to apply. Two coats.

Pretty Serious' Blue Gums on Boxing Day. I liked this kind of. It's a forest green with a turquoise/blue shimmer. Not enough though, since I have sold it:)

Jade's Energy. Three coats of holo tealy blue perfection. The holo is a lot stronger than what you can see here. It wasn't fantastic looking in a cloudy setting, but when the sun peeked thorugh - WOW!!

I didn't even know this existed before I saw in my Facebook swap group!! Rockin Rocket by Orly. I got my claim mixed up when I saw it, but thanks to the helpful person who called it first, we made a three-way-swap and I got my hands on this beauty (I gave up Elevation Polish' Uluru). Big love on this!!

George Blue-ney by Catrice. Another swap! Steely dark blue with a hint of teal. Beautiful!

 Jade's Vermelho Surreal. I had longed for this for a long time before I bought it and unfortunately it was a diappointment:( It was a lot more rusty-looking where I had expected a bright red. I got rid of it in a swap, but have since then asked myself if I did not make a mistake there... Time will tell.

Zoya - Ivanka

This is green extravaganza galore, ladies and gentlemen! Three easy peasy coats of Ivanka and one of Poshé and I dazzled, glimmered and shone here, there and everywhere!

Also - I did read lately! I just forgot to post the litpic with Lizard Belly, so here it comes. I didn't finish this book yet, but it it's pretty clear that the whole point of The Liar's Gospel by Naomi Alderman is to write the story of Jesus and make it pretty damn clear that he wasn't ALL THAT! Written by a Jewish author. Hope people weren't upset and thank goodness I'm an atheist (who went to Sunday school and knows her Christian tales)! Good read! So, if you aren't religiously sensitive - by all means, read it!

Glitter gal - Lizard Belly

I don't know holos from Adam, since this is only my third holo that I try - ever! Nevertheless, I've had my eye on Lizard Belly for quite some time, even far back when I thought I didn't like holos! Now, it's mine and I've tried it:)

Three coats I think. The brush was a bit wonky so I used my trusted OPI stand-in-brush. The color was just as gorgeously dark and dramatic as I had imagined and the holographic effect is scattered. I think. I don't think I've ever tried a linear one so I'm not sure I know what the difference is...

Kiko - 428 River Green

My mother went to Italy and got me a bunch of Kikos. I had given her a list, but outside of the ones I had asked for she also picked this one out by herself - and - it turns out to be one of the most beautiful polishes I own. Easy two coats with Kiko's fantastic brush, gold and green glass flecks in a tealy green base. Pure perfection!

The book is a great read that you can digest piece-meal. However you dig into it, you will laugh til you risk peeing yourself. Try it!

Ninja Polish - Shillelagh

It's not easy being green? I beg to differ! There's nothing shy about Shillelagh. In fact, it's one of few polishes I prefer in in-door-lighting. That's when the shimmery pinkish/reddish hues show themselves. In the sunlight, this green will seem glittery rather than shimmery, and that's too much green for me actually. Thus, this will be a winter polish for me, something to remind me of cheerier, merrier times. Below, I've applied three coats of Shillelagh and one of Poshé.

Contrary Polish - Anna Maria

I had huge expectations here. I'll just start by saying that. I love shimmers, and I love dark colors. Also, I read somewhere that Contrary Polish uses flat brushes, which I love too, and I've heard nothing but raves about the brand.

Well, the bad news: the brush was round. The formula was gloopy and tricky to apply. The finish was dull when the polish dried. The good news? Gorgeous color! The shimmer is not too shy! Covered in two coats! Before my next try with this, I'll use some thinner for the formula, and fix me up a nice flat OPI-brush and then I think polishing will be a breeze!

Linda Johansen - Brookside Moss

I got this from Norway Nails. It is a really dark green with golden shimmer. The formula was a bit thick and gloppy, but this is practically a one-coater. I have two here though for a really deep finish. It is very shiny on its own, I used SV only to speed up the drying. I usually don't like round brushes, but I'm really pleased with how round and clean the edge looks at the bottom. So - in spite of a gloppy formula and a round brush - Linda Johansen is doing SOMETHING right to make such an end result possible. Bravo!

The book is also Bravo! The Stranger's Child (Alan Hollinghurst) is about an aristocratic family and the book kind of makes stops across about a hundred years I guess (i haven't finished yet). I've always been fascinated by time and what it does to us, so, naturally, this kind of structure appeals to me. Also, Hollinghurst is fantastic with feelings, especially the subtle ones: faint discomfort, a child's disappointment etc. He is spot on and really makes you feel what is writing.

The closet.

I'm into nail polish. Also, I'm kind of neurotic about the whole growing older thing. I look good now. But I can see where it's heading. Apparently, youth, was not part of my personality. It was fleeting.

However, I'm in the closet about these things. Especially about the polish thing. The hours I can spend surfing the web looking at swatches after the kids have gone to bed, the money I spend on nail polish, well, most people I know would think I've lost it.

So, I need an outlet. And since I'm used to blogging in my job - this is it. If you figure out who I am  - don't tell anyone. Seriously. Don't.

Oh! And there will be books too. They provide the intellectual highground for the silly nonsense going on here.
